Ms Hites is a global steel industry professional and former Wall Street executive who has served as an equity analyst, project finance and mergers and acquisitions investment banker, cost-modelling expert, industry trend macro and micro consultant, expert witness and C-level strategic planning consultant. She is a proven leader with deep financial, operation, trade and market relationships at the steel producer, trader, processor and user levels. In 2012 she founded Steel-Insights, LLC in order to provide highly specialized services to clients in the metals, mining and manufacturing industries. She produces reports on the strength of the US and global economies, the global steel cycle, USA mill profitability and utilization, and specific product market micro analysis. Becky has an economics degree from the State University of West Georgia and an MBA from Georgia State University. She will be giving a presentation entitled “Lions, Tigers & Elephants: harnessing the raw power of an improving global steel cycle”.
Second guest speaker is Mr R. Ganesh, Director, Sourcing, at Jindal Stainless (India), India’s largest stainless steel manufacturing group. Mr Ganesh joined the Jindal Stainless Group in October 2007. In his present role, he is involved in strategic corporate planning and sourcing and security of raw materials. Mr Ganesh is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He holds council membership of global associations, such as ICDA (International Chrome Development Association) and IFAPA (Indian Ferro Alloys Producers Association). Mr Ganesh will be giving an in-depth assessment of the global stainless steel and specialty steel markets with a particular focus on India.
The third speaker to address the audience is Shri Sunil Barthwal, Joint Secretary at the Indian Ministry of Steel. He has held various administrative positions in the areas of Revenue Management, Rural Development, District Administration, Energy & Power, Finance, Home Affairs, Transport, etc. in the State Government and in the Ministries of Labour and Mines in the Central Government. Prior to joining the Ministry of Steel, he was Resident Commissioner, Government of Bihar in Delhi. Mr Barthwal has widely published articles in Economic Times, Financial Express and other publications. Mr Barthwal will give an overview of the current and future developments in the steel industry with a focus on India, and share his views on the formation of a recycling policy for India, a process in which he is actively involved.
