The technology provides solutions to agriculture, environment and energy sectors, said Meiwa International manager Takeo Tokunari when he met Meru County Governor Peter Munya to discuss the plan. Moreover, Governor Munya also said that the country government would help Meiwa to set up operations in the country to help in sustainable waste management.

Meru is said to spend KES 4 billion buy land for the plant, implement garbage collection, transportation and processing procedures through a public private partnership.

Meiwa and the County officials visited the Meru Town sewage treatment works and Gakoromone market where they assessed the amount of waste generated.

The company will also participate at the Tokyo International conference on African Development (Ticad-VI), which will be held from August 27 to 29 in Nairobi
