BIR: Non-ferrous metals focus on copper and aluminium

At the BIR Non-ferrous metals Division meeting during the BIR World recycling conference in Amsterdam on the 24th of October, three guest speakers will be discussing the global copper and aluminium market trends.

The first speaker will be Christian Schirrmeister of Amalgamated Metal Trading. He will talk about „Trading at the London Metal Exchange“. Schirrmeister has joined Amalgamated Metal Trading in May, who has worked as a senior consultant to the LME and since 2008 has been the Chairman of the LME Copper Committee.

Holger Ellmann, founding partner of Argentum Metal Management, will speak on „Aluminium Outlook – Rosy future driven by strong fundamentals or continuation of an oversupplied global market?“ Ellmann has a 30-year career within the global metals and recycling industries. He is also a long-serving member of the LME Aluminium Committee and was elected President of the German Aluminium Recyclers and Remitters Association (VAR).

The third speaker will be Mark Lewon of Utah Metal Works. He will give his views on copper and aluminium supply and demand. Lewon is the national Chair of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Jurgen van Gorp of Metallo-Chimique.
