WPC is the global forum proposed in 2013 by the plastics industry to accelerate the cooperation and alignment at the international level and to deliver improved outcomes for the common benefit for society, consumers and the plastics industry. WPC represents the world plastics industry including Asia, the Middle East, North and South America, and Europe.
Mosaed Al Ohali is replacing Patrick Thomas, CEO of Bayer MaterialScience, who had taken up the role during the formation phase of WPC. Al Ohali has extensive experience in the petrochemical industry. Prior to his current position, he was the Chief Operating Officer of the Sabic Europe group, including manufacturing and business and project management. He is also Chairman of the boards of the Saudi European Petrochemical Company (Ibn Zahr) and the Jubail United Petrochemical Company (United).
On his appointment, Al Ohali declared: “I am honoured and I look forward to making great progress not only for the plastics industry but for society in general.”
This first General Assembly provided strategic direction on key areas of the sustainability agenda. As initial top priorities, WPCâs work will focus on marine debris and post-consumer use solutions (recycling and energy recovery).
